Make Your Mark with a Tenner: Noteworthy Winners Announced

Enterprise UK have announced the winners of the “Make Your Mark with a Tenner” competition. “Make Your Mark with a Tenner” has received funding from Peter Jones and Bebo founders Michael and Xochi Birch and aims to grow a nation of entrepreneurs. The competition encouraged thousands of children up and down the country to make profit from £10 whilst challenging them to make a difference in their community.
One of the winning entries consisted of four school friends who set up two business ideas with their collective money. Sonny, Emily, Bethany and Holly aged between 10-11 (below), set up a juice stand during playtime and also offered to customise students’ PE kits to their own individual styling. Students could have their name printed on the back of their shirts or instead have printed images such as Steven Gerrard or Beyonce.
The team of young entrepreneurs made a profit of £72. They are donating most of it to charity, with any remaining funds going towards their school leavers’ do.
The competition caught the attention of the UK’s media – being broadcast on the websites of the BBC, The Guardian and Wired Magazine as well as receiving coverage on Gabby Logan’s show on BBC Radio Five Live.
Well done to all that took part especially those that managed to make a good profit.
